Competition in the smartphone industry is on. As of the time of this article Blackberry is down to 11%, Android is up to 19% and iPhone is hanging on (so far) at 55%. Android is creeping up to iPhone, with the advantage of availability through multiple carriers, compared to AT&T's exclusive rights to the iPhone. (Personally, I love my Droid!)

The number of smartphones is rapidly growing. With that, is a growing market of users that are virtually untouched by advertising. Even though you see more and more in the news about mobile marketing, most people have not yet figured out how to get into it

Mobile marketing can be like online marketing with various marketing channels. Coupons can be sent via text message. Mobile display ads are used to promote anything, from weight loss to online education.

Thisnk about it - mobile users have their cell phones by their side 24 hours a day, while most people only spend maybe a couple hours a day at their computer. A mobile ad can be active 24 hours a day, and can reach users all over the world.

OfferMobi, a performance based marketing ad network for mobile advertising campaigns launched earlier this year. The company is reporting rapid growth, adding over 50 advertisers and 5000 new publishers since it's launch.

Peerfly.com has also added several mobile offers. These are only 2 of the many mobile marketing ad networks.

So hopefully you are starting to understand just how big mobile marketing, and is going to be. Now, where do you get started? It's not like marketing online - put up a website and drive traffic to it. That doesn't work for mobile marketing. You have to have mobile optimized web pages. You have to know how to host a page and then get traffic to it.

I was lucky enough to run across a program called Mobile Monopoly. This is put together by Adam Horwitz (and friends), an 18 year old who has put over 6 months into figuring out the best ways to get the most out of mobile marketing. He also has his own software that creates mobile optimized web pages. His step by step video training can get anyone up and running making money with mobile marketing.

It is well worth the investment. Just think how much time it would take for someone to figure out how to start a mobile marketing campaign from scratch, and the to figure out what works and what doesn't.
